The natural-material match for period joinery
A lot of Newlands' upper-slope homes still have their original timber sash windows, and a plastic or vinyl treatment sits oddly against that. Timber venetians — usually 50mm basswood slats — are the natural-material match: warm, architectural, and right at home in a study, a lounge with a fireplace, or any room where the original joinery is the point.
Aluminium venetians earn their place in the rooms timber can't handle — bathrooms, kitchens, and anywhere the persistent damp this suburb gets makes a fabric or timber treatment a liability. Powder-coated aluminium shrugs off the moisture that would eventually warp a lesser slat.

Specifier note
Very wide bay or box-bay windows — common on the upper slopes — sometimes need splitting or ladder-tape support rather than one oversized blind. We measure each pane on-site rather than assume from a photo.
Fixed without touching the sash
Wherever the window's construction allows it, we fix the bracket into the reveal rather than the sash itself, so the original frame isn't drilled or altered. If a particular opening needs a different approach — some of the older bay windows do — we'll say so plainly at the measure, before anything's ordered.
